SunGen Farms Harvest Update
Premium Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Bora Beans, Watermelons and Sweet Potatoes Coming Online
The past few weeks at SunGen Farms have been a defining moment in this growing season.
Despite early heavy rains and the usual realities of farming in Barbados, the fields have settled into a strong rhythm. Timing, weather patterns, and careful crop management have aligned in our favor, especially when it comes to tomatoes.
This week, we begin harvesting tomatoes, cucumbers, and bora beans, with sweet potatoes coming toward the end of the week. We are also coming off a recent pick of beautiful watermelons, which are currently available.
The tomatoes are the standout crop this cycle. Planting timing combined with consistent sun and rainfall has resulted in a crop that is uniform, vibrant, and structurally sound. These are some of the best-looking tomatoes we have seen grown locally, with strong color, firmness, and shelf appeal that make them well suited for chefs, grocery stores, and produce vendors seeking premium Barbados-grown produce.
Beyond appearance, the overall health of the farm is encouraging. Crops are establishing well, soil conditions are stable, and yields are shaping up to be consistent as we move deeper into the harvest window. This early phase has been about responding to the land, adjusting where needed, and letting the process do its work.
For restaurants, vendors, and grocery stores looking to source fresh, local Barbados produce, there are two easy ways to connect with us. Orders can be placed directly through the produce section of our website, or buyers are welcome to schedule a visit to the farm to see the crops firsthand and experience the quality in person.
More updates to follow as harvesting continues.
